NATURAL MATERIALS, ANCIENT TECHNIQUES & NEW TECHNOLOGY

Kelly Rivas is the designer and creator of Moonfinder. Growing up in the wide-open spaces of Texas she developed a deep love of nature and the big night sky. Always being obsessed with the movements of the moon her folks nicknamed her Moonfinder. After receiving a fine arts degree she has pursued a life of creating and likes to challenge herself by learning new techniques and processes to incorporate into her work.

OUR PROCESS

With our focus on creating unique, stylish and functional products we use a variety of natural materials and ancient crafting techniques like marquetry, leather working, metal smithing, and marble painting. We juxtapose these processes with the new technology of laser cutting and etching. Each piece is assembled, sanded or dyed, and finished by hand with great attention to detail and craftsmanship, and everything is made in our humble Austin, TX studio. 

SUSTAINABILITY

We care about our footprint and we feel that one of the best ways to prevent waste is to create beautiful, functional products that will last a long time. We strive to always use sustainably-harvested, or salvaged wood and leather, and we only use safe, non-toxic finishes.
